Just like humans, our animal companions sometimes need emergency treatment. This can be because of an accident or injury, or sometimes just from the sudden onset of serious illness. We know how important it is to get these valued members of your family access to treatment as soon as possible. We offer VERY limited emergency care as we are not a full service animal hospital and are unable to provide certain services and are not fully staffed 24 hours a day.
What to expect
It can be very frightening having to make an emergency dash to a veterinary hospital, however we will do our very best to reassure you, while taking compassionate care of your pet.
When you contact us we will initially take information over the telephone and advise whether or not we believe your animal needs immediate veterinary treatment. If we feel that your pet does need urgent medical assistance, we will ask you to bring them to us at our clinic or if their needs may be more extensive we will recommend getting your pet to the closest emergency animal clinic for more intensive care. Sometimes we will have you bring your pet to us for stabilization before having you continue on to an emergency hospital or urgent care.
If we are able to see your pet an examination will be carried out by a qualified veterinarian or triaged by an experienced veterinary technician. We operate a priority first system so that animals deemed in the greatest need after their initial assessment will be seen and treated first, but we aim to ensure that all animals are treated as promptly as possible.
It will be necessary for us to ask for payment for your pets’ consultation and treatment at the time that the care is provided. An idea of costs will be provided during the initial consultation upon request, keep in mind that is only an estimate and can change depending on the care your pets needs. If you have pet insurance then the cost may be all or partially reimbursed by your policy, but it is important that you check the conditions and small print carefully. We do not work directly with pet insurance companies, but are happy to provide you with the needed documents for you to submit for reimbursement.
We understand and value your special relationship with your animals and can assure you that when they are in our hands, we will treat your family pet as if they were our own.
After hours emergency care:
In the event your pet has an emergency after our business hours please call and follow the prompts to leave a voicemail. Please remember to leave a call back number on the message. The veterinarian on staff will call you back (the number will be unknown or blocked) shortly after they review your message. Depending on the situation and the care your pet needs the Doctor will either meet you at the clinic or advise you to immediately go to one of our recommended emergency animal hospitals. If the situation ends up not being emergent the Doctor will likely recommend you call the clinic during normal business hours to schedule an appointment.
